PROPHECY BOOTCAMP: Our topic for today is titled “Can It Get Any Worse? (Part 5)” from Dr. Ed Hindson’s book “Revelation: Unlocking the Future.”
— Mystery of God
The trumpet blast of the seventh angel indicates that the “mystery of God” is “finished” (the Greek word meaning “fulfilled” or “completed”). The mystery “will have been fulfilled” is the force of the aorist indicative verb. John does not use the future indicative, but the proleptic aorist in anticipation of these days being in the past. Even his grammar indicates that he wrote of this event as it was actually occurring before his very eyes.
The expression “the mystery of God” refers to God’s revealed purposes in bringing His kingdom to full fruition. Though this kingdom has been hidden from unbelievers, it will be fully revealed in the judgments that will follow. Thomas believes, “The mystery of God consists of the heretofore unrevealed details unfolded in the chapters from here to the end.”
OCCUPY TILL I COME: We are continuing our journey through the book, “Coming Events and Present Duties,” by J.C. Ryle. This section is titled, “Watch” (Part 21) based on the parable of the foolish and wise virgins in Matthew 25:1-13. J.C. Ryle writes:
Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself uses two most striking comparisons, when dwelling on this subject. Both are most instructive, and both ought to raise in us solemn thoughts.
