PROPHECY BOOTCAMP: Our topic for today is titled “Can It Get Any Worse? (Part 2)” from Dr. Ed Hindson’s book “Revelation: Unlocking the Future.”

 The Mighty Angel

The new vision begins with the words “and I saw,” distinguishing it from the greater vision of the seven trumpets. What John saw was “another strong angel” carrying a “little book”. The term “little scroll” is very rare in the New Testament and only appears in this chapter. This fact alone certainly distinguishes it from the sevensealed scroll in chapter 5.

The other interpretive issue in this chapter deals with the identity of the “strong angel”. Some have suggested this is Christ because of his majestic appearance. However, Christ never appears as an angel in the Apocalypse. In fact, Tim LaHaye notes that “we will look in vain for a presentation of Him as an angel after the incarnation.”

OCCUPY TILL I COME: We are continuing our journey through the book, “Coming Events and Present Duties,” by J.C. Ryle. This section is titled, “Watch” (Part 18) based on the parable of the foolish and wise virgins in Matthew 25:1-13. J.C. Ryle writes:

Is there any one among the readers of this address who agrees with the principles I have tried to advocate? I beseech that man to endeavor to realize the second coming of Christ more and more. Truly we feel it but little, compared to what we ought to do, at the very best.
