PROPHECY BOOTCAMP: Our topic for today is titled “The World at War (Part 6)” from Dr. Ed Hindson’s book “Revelation: Unlocking the Future.”
The first trumpet precedes hail and fire.
The results of this deterioration are so vast that one-third of all the trees and all the grass on the entire planet burn up. Such a massive destruction of vegetation would result in food shortages and a limited air supply. John provides no explanation of how this will occur. One gets the impression that he watched this destruction in utter amazement.
The very fact that the Bible predicts a massive global conflagration at the end of human history, coupled with the fact that we live in a time when such a catastrophe is humanly possible, ought to be a wake-up call to everyone on the planet!
John Phillips writes, “Truly the dawning of the atomic age is of great prophetic significance… We have lived on the edge of a potential holocaust for so long we find it difficult to believe that we are on the brink of the Rapture of the Church and the subsequent unleashing of apocalyptic doom.” Ironically, even the seer’s description of “hail and fire” fits the description of a nuclear explosion of fire and ice.
OCCUPY TILL I COME: We are continuing our journey through the book, “Coming Events and Present Duties,” by J.C. Ryle. This section is titled, “Watch” (Part 6) based on the parable of the foolish and wise virgins in Matthew 25:1-13. J.C. Ryle writes:
The Gospel net may perhaps be spread far more widely than it has been hitherto — but the angels shall find abundance of bad fish in it as well as good fish, in the last day. The Gospel laborers may possibly be multiplied a thousand-fold, and I pray God it may be so; but however faithfully they may sow — a large proportion of tares will be found growing together with the wheat, at the time of harvest.
How is it with your own soul? Remember, that until the Lord Jesus Christ comes again, there always will be both wise and foolish in the Church. Now, which are you?
