NATO to meet at Turkey’s request to address ISIS concerns (Second Coming Watch Update #679)

1. Ambassadors of NATO states will meet on Tuesday at Turkey’s request for talks on a spike in violence between Turkey, the Islamic State group and Kurdish militants.

2. Syrian President Bashar Assad vowed on Sunday to win his country’s civil war even while admitting that his army was struggling due to a lack of manpower.

3. Israeli police entered a holy Jerusalem site on Sunday to prevent Arab youths from attacking visiting Jews marking a biblical holiday.

4. A recent study by the Pew Research Center said more Christians are facing religious persecution in the Middle East than at any time since early history.

5. Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said his country has no plans to send ground troops into Syria but has agreed with the United States that air cover should be provided for moderate rebels fighting Islamic State forces there.
