The Bible says in Acts 17:31: “He hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.”
PROPHECY BOOTCAMP: Our topic for today is titled “The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse” (Part 1) from Dr. Ed Hindson’s book “Revelation: Unlocking the Future.”
The first four seals involve four riders and four horses. Following the typical pattern of the Revelation, they give us an overview of events to come. The details follow in the trumpet judgments. The order of events is always the big picture first, then the snapshots. The panorama always precedes the individual landscapes of prophetic detail in the Apocalypse.
Leon Morris observes that the first four seals form a unity (four horsemen). The two seals that follow deal with things in heaven (martyrs and cosmic disaster). The final seal doesn’t come until Revelation 8:1, and it ushers in the seven trumpets. Again, the pattern is the same: overview followed by details.
