PROPHECY BOOTCAMP: Our topic for today is titled “Worthy is the Lamb!” (Part 2) from Dr. Ed Hindson’s book “Revelation: Unlocking the Future”.

Robert Thomas points out that four new scenes of the vision currently in progress are introduced by the phrase “and I saw”. This adds to the continuous sense of movement one experiences while reading the Revelation. Thomas also observes, “The throne room described in chapter 4 functions as the setting of these scenes, the first of which introduces a scroll whose contents comprise essentially the remainder of the Apocalypse.”

The scroll itself is described as having been written on the inside (“within”) and on the back. Its description is very similar to that of an ancient will or testament This would have been the general nature of wills, contracts and official documents of John’s time. Commentators vary in their opinions regarding the scroll. Some see it as the gospel, new covenant, book of life, decrees of God, or plan of redemption. Since the opening of the seals enacts the judgments of God on earth in order to bring about the return of Christ as King of the earth, it seems best to view the scroll as the title deed or divine contract to the world. As such, the scroll certainly contains the eternal decrees of God and expresses His divine will and counsel.
