The Bible says in Luke 21:34-36: “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”
PROPHECY BOOTCAMP: Our topic for today is titled “God is Still on the Throne” (Part 4) from Dr. Ed Hindson’s book “Revelation: Unlocking the Future”.
The focal point of what John saw in chapter 4 is the One seated on the throne, not the throne itself. The throne merely symbolizes His great authority, power, and position. It is the One seated on the throne, God the Father, who is the focus of attention in this chapter.
John’s description of the One seated on the throne is that of His Shekinah glory. John was overcome by the presence of the glory of God. He became transfixed on the indescribable occupant on the throne of the universe. He sees the One of whom he himself had said “no man has seen God at any time.” Therefore, John’s description is limited to that of His glorious appearance. Other than the references to Him sitting on the throne and to His holding the scroll in His right hand, there are no other anthropomorphic descriptions of the Father.
