The Bible says in Matthew 24:36: “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.”

PROPHECY BOOTCAMP: Our topic for today is titled “Who’s That Knocking at My Door?” (Part 5) from Dr. Ed Hindson’s book “Revelation: Unlocking the Future”. // LAODICEA: THE PUTRID CHURCH (PART 2)

The basic designation of the church as lukewarm is taken from the contrasting hot springs of nearby Hierapolis and the pure, cold waters of Colossae. By contrast, Laodicea was lukewarm. The phrase “I would that you were hot or cold’ refers to their usefulness or effectiveness. By contrast, the lukewarm spiritual condition of the church at Laodicea was virtually useless. Cold water and hot water have legitimate usages, but lukewarm water is often spit out of the mouth as distasteful. The Greek terms are striking in the original: boiling hot or icy cold. Our Lord would prefer us to boil or freeze rather than simmer down to a tasteless and nauseatingly insipid commitment.
