1. War against Islamic State militants in Syria and Iraq threatened to spill into Turkey on Tuesday, where reports emerged that the air force had bombed Kurdish fighters furious at Ankara’s refusal to help protect their kin in Syria.

3. London mayor Boris Johnson said Great Britain’s security services are monitoring thousands of terrorism suspects in the city and are involved in operations on a daily basis

4. Despite several claims from officials that the Ebola pandemic is contained, there are more and more reports of possible or confirmed infections. Several nations have revealed that they are dealing with Ebola-symptomatic cases or that they are bringing infected patients back from Africa for treatment.

5. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi called for a revival of the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative at a Cairo donor conference which raised $5.4 billion for Gaza and featured world leaders who urged an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
