How Certain Is Christ’s Second Coming, Part 7 (The Prophet Daniel’s Report #688)

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #688.

My name is Daniel Whyte III here to remind you that Jesus Christ is coming back soon and that you need to be prepared. This broadcast is not about predictions, nor is it about setting dates as some foolishly have done, however it is all about preparation.

First, today, let’s look at some Signs of His Coming in the news.

The disciples asked Jesus in Matthew 24:3, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Jesus Christ gave them (and us) clear signs that show us when we can begin to expect to see the Coming of the Lord and the end of the world. Looking at world events through the lens of the Word of God, let’s look at some headlines from today’s news that point to the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

First, today, under the Sign category of PESTILENCES & FATAL EPIDEMIC DISEASES — According to a Johns Hopkins University tally, the global death toll attributed to the novel coronavirus hit 508,392 early Tuesday. In the seven months since the virus was first identified in Wuhan [WOO-HAHN], China, it has infected at least 10,393,467 people worldwide.

Second, today, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST — According to Ynet News, according to a counter-proposal to a contentious US plan, the Palestinians are prepared to renew long-stalled peace talks with Israel and to agree to “minor” territorial concessions. A Palestinian Authority text sent to the international peacemaking Quartet says the Palestinians are “ready to resume direct bilateral negotiations where they stopped,” in 2014. Palestinian prime minister Mohammed Shtayyeh said on June 9 that the Palestinian Authority had drafted a response to the US proposal but did not previously mention direct talks with the Israelis. Israel’s coalition government has set July 1 as the date from which it could initiate action on US President Donald Trump’s controversial Middle East peace proposals. The Trump plan paves the way for Israel to annex parts of the occupied West Bank, including Jewish settlements considered illegal under international law. The PA said the counter-proposal would be withdrawn if Israel went ahead with annexation “of any part of the Palestinian territory”.

Third, today, under the Sign category of FAMINES — According to BBC News, Brazil and Argentina are monitoring the movements of a large swarm of locusts, which has been eating its way through crops in the region. The insects, which can cover a distance of 93 miles in a day, have already travelled from Paraguay to Argentina and it is feared Brazil and Uruguay could be next. Brazil has told farmers to be alert to the possible arrival of the locusts. Kenya and India are also currently fighting locusts swarms.

Now, it’s time for Prophecy Bootcamp.

Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy, the Second Coming of Christ, and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.

Our topic for today is titled “How Certain Is Christ’s Second Coming, Part 7” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

James. This little book, which challenges Christians to show their faith by their works, culminates with a strong appeal relative to the coming of Christ: “Be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.”

Peter. Writing to believers who were undergoing the trials of persecution, the apostle Peter challenged the elders to be faithful leaders on the basis of the Lord’s coming: “When the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.” Peter’s second epistle contains a lengthy prophecy concerning the rise of scoffers in the days just preceding Christ’s coming. He promises that in spite of their ridicule, “the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night.”

First John. The beautiful epistle that brings us assurance of salvation and confidence also challenges us to holy living on the basis of Christ’s second coming. Here’s an example: “Now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may
have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.”

Lord willing, we will continue looking at this topic in our next podcast.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.

Jesus Christ said in Luke 19:13 to “Occupy till I come.” In light of that, we are continuing our journey through the book, “Coming Events and Present Duties,” by J.C. Ryle. It is a collection of what he called “prophetic tracts” that focus on the believer’s duty in light of the signs which point to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

This section is titled, “Idolatry to be Destroyed at Christ’s Coming” (Part 20). J.C. Ryle writes:

Brethren, I know not how these things sound to your ears. To me it is no pleasure to dwell on the shortcomings of any who profess and call themselves Christians. I can say truly, that I have said what I have said with pain and sorrow.

I draw a wide distinction between the Church of Rome and the private opinions of many of her members. I believe and hope that many a Roman Catholic is in heart inconsistent with his profession, and is better than the Church to which he belongs. I cannot forget the Jansenists, and Quesnel, and Martin Boos. I believe that many a poor Italian at this day is worshipping with an idolatrous worship simply because he knows no better. He has no Bible to instruct him. He has no faithful minister to teach him. He has the fear of the priest before his eyes if he dares to think for himself. He has no money to enable him to get away from the bondage he lives under, even if he feels a desire. I remember all this, and I say that the Italian eminently deserves our sympathy and compassion; but all this must not prevent my saying that the Church of Rome is an idolatrous Church.

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

CLOSING PRAYER
…….

Remember the words of the Lord in Matthew 24:42: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

If you are not ready for the Return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. Here is how:

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…” Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here is the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9-13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.

How Certain Is Christ’s Second Coming, Part 6 (The Prophet Daniel’s Report #687)

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #687.

First, today, under the Sign category of PESTILENCES & FATAL EPIDEMIC DISEASES — According to a Johns Hopkins University tally, the global death toll attributed to the novel coronavirus hit 474,609 early Tuesday. In the three months since the virus was first identified in Wuhan [WOO-HAHN], China, it has infected at least 9,184,976 people worldwide.

Second, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMOURS OF WARS — According to The Jerusalem Post, The United States wants a wide-ranging treaty with Russia restricting all nuclear weapons, not just strategic ones. US Special Presidential Envoy for Arms Control Marshall Billingslea said China should also be involved in the process. US President Donald Trump has sought to include China in talks to replace New START, the flagship nuclear arms treaty between the United States and Russia, which expires in February. China, a nuclear power with an arsenal a fraction the size of those of the Cold War-era superpowers, has repeatedly declined. Washington wants a trilateral deal including China because it says Beijing is secretly racing to increase its arsenal’s size and reach, but Moscow favors a multilateral agreement possibly including France and Britain.

Third, today, under the Sign category of FAMINES — According to Watchers News, according to Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, more than 143,000 acres of rice have been damaged in Mekong [ME-KONG] Delta due to the region’s worst drought in history. The MARD, in cooperation with the People’s Committee of Long An Province, held a conference to discuss the results of the prevention of drought, saltwater intrusion, and water shortage during the 2019/20 dry season. The organizations also talked about solutions to develop sustainable agriculture. The increase in saline intrusion was due to the water shortage from the upper Mekong [ME-KONG] River. During the 2019/20 dry season, the water to the Mekong [ME-KONG] Delta was lower than that in previous years, affecting 10 out of 13 provinces in the region. The area affected by salinity was 4.15 million acres), which was higher than the total area of 124,481 acres in 2016. Also, due to prolonged drought, 96,000 families or about 430,000 individuals suffered water shortage for daily living, which was lower than the dry season in 2015/16 when there were 210,000 households affected.

Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy, the Second Coming of Christ, and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.

Our topic for today is titled “How Certain Is Christ’s Second Coming, Part 6” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

In the book of Titus, a veteran servant of God advises a young preacher on how to conduct the work of the Lord in the church. Paul challenges Titus to teach people to deny themselves “ungodliness and worldly lusts…[to] live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our Great God and Savior Jesus Christ”.

When all the books of Paul are considered, we find that only two of thirteen omit mention of the second coming, and one of these is Philemon, a personal letter of only one chapter. There is no question the apostle Paul was absolutely certain that his Lord and Savior was coming back to this earth again.

Hebrews. This is a magnificent presentation of Christ as the fulfillment of the Old Testament types and symbols. It promises our Lord’s return: “Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation”.

Ryle. This section is titled, “Idolatry to be Destroyed at Christ’s Coming” (Part 19). J.C. Ryle writes:

They tell us that we have no evidence for the assertions we make on this subject; that we found our charges on the abuses which prevail among the ignorant members of the Romish communion; and that it is absurd to say, that a Church containing so many wise and learned men, is guilty of idolatry. My answer is, that the devotional books in common use among Roman Catholics supply us with unmistakeable evidence. Let any one examine that notorious book, “The Garden of the Soul,” if he doubts my assertion, and read the language there addressed to the Virgin Mary. Let him remember that this language is addressed to a woman, who, though highly favoured, and the mother of our Lord, was yet one of our fellow-sinners,–to a woman, who actually confesses her need of a Saviour for herself. She says, “My spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.” Let him examine this language in the light of the New Testament, and then let him tell us fairly, whether the charge of idolatry is not fully made out. But I answer, besides this, that we want no better evidence than that which is supplied in the city of Rome itself. What do men and women do under the light of the Pope’s own countenance? What is the religion that prevails around St. Peter’s and under the walls of the Vatican? What is Romanism at Rome, unfettered, unshackled, and free to develope itself in full perfection? Let a man honestly answer these questions, and I ask no more. Let him read such a book as Seymour’s “Pilgrimage to Rome,” or Alford’s Letters, and ask any visitor to Rome if the picture is too highly coloured. Let him do this, I say, and I believe he cannot avoid this conclusion, that Romanism in perfection is a gigantic system of Mary-worship, saint-worship, image-worship, relic-worship, and priest-worship; that it is, in one word, a huge organized idolatry.

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

Second, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMOURS OF WARS — According to The Jerusalem Post, Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting of the IAEA’s Board of Governors, Director-General Rafael Grossi ratcheted up the pressure on the Islamic Republic for failing to grant his inspectors access to two nuclear facilities and failing to clarify undeclared nuclear material which the inspectors discovered last year. He said, “I note with serious concern that, for over four months, Iran has denied us access to two locations and that, for almost a year, it has not engaged in substantive discussions to clarify our questions related to possible undeclared nuclear material and nuclear-related activities. This is adversely affecting the Agency’s ability to resolve the questions and to provide credible assurance of the absence of undeclared nuclear material and activities at these locations in Iran.” Moreover, Grossi said, “I call on Iran to cooperate immediately and fully with the Agency, including by providing prompt access to the locations specified by us.”

Third, today, under the Sign category of ARAB HOSTILITY TOWARD ISRAEL — According to Ynet News, Tens of thousands of racial justice protesters took to the streets Paris, some of whom were heard chanting anti-Israel and anti-Jewish slogans as well as holding up signs criticizing Israeli government. Some protesters at the Paris rally were seen holding up banners, reading, “Israel, laboratory of police violence,” and waving Palestinian flags. Some were shouting racial slurs such as “dirty Jews.” The demonstrations across France started following similar protests in the United States against racial injustice and police brutality.

Our topic for today is titled “How Certain Is Christ’s Second Coming, Part 5” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

All but two of Paul’s epistles refer to the second coming. He alluded to it obliquely in Romans 11:26 and in 14:10, where he talks about the judgment seat of Christ. That judgment is described in detail in 1 Corinthians 3:9-15. Then in 1 Corinthians 15 Paul describes the resurrection of the body and gives details of the rapture. He also refers to some of these same second-coming truths in 2 Corinthians 1:14 and 5:10. Galatians, which offers a deep discussion on the finished work of Christ on the cross, does not contain a clear reference to the second coming, though an allusion to the event appears in 1:4. Ephesians presents the Christian “in the heavenly places,” and “the day of redemption” can only mean the day of deliverance through Christ’s return. Philippians contains several references to the Lord’s coming, the best of which is Philippians 3:20-21:

Our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.

A thrilling promise appears in Colossians: “When Christ who is our life appears, then you will also appear with Him in glory”.

Like 1 and 2 Thessalonians, the epistles to Timothy provide many references to the second coming of Christ. Second Timothy 1:10 and 4:1,8 refer to “the appearing” and “His appearing.”

Lord willing, we will continue looking at this topic in our next podcast.

They tell us, that the reverence which the Romish Church gives to saints and images does not amount to idolatry. They inform us, that there are distinctions between “latria” and “dulia,” between a mediation of redemption, and a mediation of intercession, which clear her of the charge. My answer is, that the Bible knows nothing of such distinctions; and that, in the actual practice of the great bulk of Roman Catholics, they have no existence at all.

They tell us, that it is a mistake to suppose that Roman Catholics really worship the images and pictures before which they perform acts of adoration; that they only use them as helps to devotion, and in reality look far beyond them. My answer is, that many a heathen could say just as much for his idolatry;–that it is notorious, in former days, they did say so;–and that in Hindostan many idol-worshippers do say so at the present day. But the apology does not avail. The terms of the second commandment are too stringent. It prohibits bowing down, as well as worshipping. And the very anxiety which the Church of Rome has often displayed to exclude that second commandment from her catechisms, is of itself a great fact which speaks volumes to a candid observer.

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

In the three months since the virus was first identified in Wuhan [WOO-HAHN], China, it has infected at least 7,113,366 people worldwide.

Second, today, under the Sign category of EARTHQUAKES IN DIVERS PLACES — According to The Kansas City Star, Seven earthquakes rumbled in Oklahoma between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey. The first earthquake shook just before 1 p.m. about 4 miles east of Renfrow near the Kansas state line, data show. The USGS did not receive reports of anyone feeling the 1.7 magnitude temblor. The next and largest earthquake of the group — magnitude 2.9 — rattled at 4:26 p.m. roughly 4 miles north of Ames. Ames is about 70 miles southwest of Renfrow.

Third, today, under the Sign category of ARAB HOSTILITY TOWARD ISRAEL — According to The Jerusalem Post, The Palestinian delegation to the United Nations has been advancing a resolution in recent days which condemns Israel’s intent to annex the Jordan Valley and key regions in the West Bank. The Palestinian delegation intends to bring the resolution to the table of the UN General Assembly because the US has veto powers in the Security Council which will ultimately block any decision against Israel. The Palestinians have proposed a number of actions against Israel in recent months at the UN. Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon said, “As much as is needed, we are prepared to defend any decision the Israeli government makes before the UN, and to work with our friends around the world to thwart hostile initiatives.”

Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy, the Second Coming of Christ, and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.

Our topic for today is titled “How Certain Is Christ’s Second Coming, Part 4” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

The thirteen epistles of Paul. The writings of the apostle Paul had a tremendous impact on the early church. Paul imparted deep doctrinal teaching, practical exhortation, correction, and instruction on many aspects of the Christian life. Thirteen times he mentioned baptism, and only twice did he touch on communion, yet he mentioned the second coming of our Lord 50 times.

First Thessalonians is considered the first letter Paul wrote. In it he referred the young believers at Thessalonica to the second coming of Christ in every chapter! He repeated that emphasis in even greater detail in 2 Thessalonians. These epistles demonstrate how soon and how insistently Paul taught new converts the doctrine of Christ’s return, for he was in their city only three weeks before angry Jews drove him out of town.

We also see the apostle’s love of the second coming in his rather stern words at the conclusion of 1 Corinthians: “If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. O Lord, come!” The Greek word Paul used in that last phrase, maranatha, means “the Lord is coming.” That expression gained popularity in the first century and became a common mode of greeting and parting. Christians often included it in letters, and in some cases even soldiers used it as a slogan when they went off to war.

Lord willing, we will continue looking at this topic in our next podcast.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.

To my mind, it is idolatry to worship that which man’s hands have made,–to call it God, and adore it when lifted up before our eyes. And if this be so, with the doctrine of transubstantiation, and the elevation of the host in my recollection, I say there is idolatry in the Church of Rome.

To my mind, it is idolatry to make ordained men mediators between ourselves and God, robbing, as it were, our Lord Christ of His office, and giving them an honour which even Apostles and angels in Scripture flatly repudiate. And if this be so, with the honour paid to Popes and priests before my eyes, I say there is idolatry in the Church of Rome.

I know well that language like this jars the minds of many. Men love to shut their eyes against evils which it is disagreeable to allow. They will not see things which involve unpleasant consequences. That the Church of Rome is an erring Church, they will acknowledge. That she is idolatrous, they will deny.

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

Idolatry to be Destroyed at Christ’s Coming, Part 16 (The Prophet Daniel’s Report #684)

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #684.

First, today, under the Sign category of PESTILENCES & FATAL EPIDEMIC DISEASES — According to a Johns Hopkins University tally, the global death toll attributed to the novel coronavirus hit 375,632 early Tuesday. In the three months since the virus was first identified in Wuhan [WOO-HAHN], China, it has infected at least 6,270,758 people worldwide.

Second, today, under the Sign category of DISTRESS AND PERPLEXITY AMONG PEOPLE — According to The New York Times, Mass protests in at least 140 American cities over the police killing of another black man in the United States spread globally in the past few days, as many demonstrators not only expressed solidarity with their American counterparts but denounced racism in their own countries. Some critics, notably in China and Iran, used the killing to deflect from their own problems, saying it showed what they called the hypocrisy and arrogance of an increasingly isolated Trump administration. The criticism thundered from the streets of Berlin, London, Paris and Vancouver, British Columbia, to capitals in Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. Artists drew an anti-racism mural in a besieged part of Syria. Lebanese and Chilean protesters offered advice on protection from police abuse. The widespread condemnation partly reflected what critics called the erosion of America’s moral authority. President Trump already faces criticism for a response to the coronavirus pandemic that has led the United States to relinquish its longtime role as a leader in times of crisis.

Third, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMOURS OF WARS — According to The Jerusalem Post, Marking 20 years since Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah warned Israel of ‘the great war that will open all fronts at once,’ saying that it would be ‘the end of Israel.’ The Hezbollah leader stressed, however, that there are ‘no indications that Israel intends to launch a war against Lebanon.’ The secretary-general warned that any Israeli air strike on Lebanon would ‘not pass without a response,’ adding that the terror group has ‘military capabilities that did not exist before 2006’ and would respond if any Hezbollah terrorist was killed anywhere.

Our topic for today is titled “How Certain Is Christ’s Second Coming, Part 3” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

John. The “beloved disciple” who outlived all the other apostles wrote his life of Christ about 50 years after Christ ascended into heaven. Although he does not repeat the Olivet Discourse as do the other three Gospel writers, he quotes one of the clearest promises to come from the Savior’s lips on this subject.

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

Acts. Luke’s excellent record of the work of the Holy Spirit through the lives of the apostles contains several promises of Christ’s second coming. The first act of the ascended Christ was to dispatch two angelic messengers to make this announcement to His disciples: “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven”.

In addition, the first sermon Peter preached after the day of Pentecost records this promise given to the Jews of Jerusalem, many of whom had doubtless called for the death of Christ: “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before”. The acts of the first-century apostles were motivated by both the Holy Spirit and the expectation of Jesus’ return to this earth.

This section is titled, “Idolatry to be Destroyed at Christ’s Coming” (Part 16). J.C. Ryle writes:

To my mind, it is idolatry to have images and pictures of saints in churches, and to give them a reverence for which there is no warrant or precedent in Scripture. And if this be so, I say there is idolatry in the Church of Rome.

To my mind, it is idolatry to invoke the Virgin Mary and the saints in glory, to address them in language never addressed in Scripture except to the Holy Trinity. And if this be so, I say there is idolatry in the Church of Rome.

To my mind, it is idolatry to bow down to mere material things, and attribute to them a power and sanctity far exceeding that attached to the ark or altar of the Old Testament dispensation; and a power and sanctity, too, for which there is not a tittle of foundation in the Word of God. And if this be so, with the holy coat of Treves, and the wonderfully-multiplied wood of the true cross, and a thousand other so-called relics in my mind’s eye, I say there is idolatry in the Church of Rome.

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

In the three months since the virus was first identified in Wuhan [WOO-HAHN], China, it has infected at least 5,497,538 people worldwide.

Second, today, under the Sign category of ARAB HOSTILITY TOWARD ISRAEL — According to The Jerusalem Post, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Khamenei published an antisemitic poster on Tuesday evoking Nazi Germany’s “final solution” that destroyed European Jewry, in order to advance Tehran’s quest to abolish Israel. The poster’s language reads: “Palestine will be free. The final solution. Resistance is referendum.” Khamenei displayed the antisemitic poster in English, Farsi and Arabic on his official homepage. The picture shows a conquered Jerusalem with photos of the late Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp Quds Force leader Qassem Soleimani [KAH-SEM SOH-LEH-MAH-NEE]. The poster was released from Khamenei’s office to celebrate Quds [KUDS] Day, the annual Iranian regime rally calling for Israel’s destruction.

Third, today, under the Sign category of EARTHQUAKES IN DIVERS PLACES — According to San Francisco Gate, The ground has come alive in a pocket of western Nevada. A magnitude-6.5 earthquake rocked a remote region 35 miles west of Tonopah on May 15 and hundreds of aftershocks have followed — an event this corner of the county hasn’t seen in over half a century. The initial big quake struck at 4:03 a.m. last Friday east of the Sierra Nevada, roughly halfway between Reno and Las Vegas, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It was the largest to hit Nevada in 66 years and caused cracking along US 95 in Esmeralda County and broke some windows. Since then, a dozen aftershocks of 4.5 and above — and 500 quakes of 2.5 and above — have been recorded near Tonopah since the 6.5 quake.

Our topic for today is titled “How Certain Is Christ’s Second Coming, Part 2” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

To help you appreciate the New Testament’s emphasis on the coming of Christ, let’s take a quick look at its books one at a time.

Matthew. Two entire chapters, 24 and 25, are devoted to this subject. Often called the Olivet Discourse, this message was delivered just prior to our Lord’s death. This sermon contains the most important and chronology of future events found in Scripture with the exception of the book of Revelation.

Mark. Mark devotes chapter 13 to the Olivet Discourse prophecies of the end times, culminating in the second coming of Christ.

Luke. This great first-century historian and doctor included the second-coming prophecies in chapters 17 and 21 of this book. He wrote, “Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with great power and great glory.”

Lord willing, we will continue looking at this topic in our next podcast.

But let us now turn from the past to the present. Let us examine the question which most concerns ourselves. Let us consider in what form idolatry presents itself to us as a sin of the visible Church of Christ in our own time.

I find no difficulty in answering this question. I feel no hesitation in affirming that idolatry never yet assumed a more glaring form than it does in the Church of Rome at this very day.

And here I come to a subject on which it is hard to speak, because of the times we live in. But the whole truth ought to be spoken by ministers of Christ, without respect of times and prejudices. And I should not lie down in peace, after preaching on idolatry, if I did not declare my solemn conviction, that idolatry is one of the crying sins of which the Church of Rome is guilty. I say this in all sadness. I say it, acknowledging fully that we have our faults in our own Church; and practically, perhaps, in some quarters, not a little idolatry. But formal, recognized, systematic idolatry, I believe we are free from at all events. While, as for the Church of Rome, if there is not in her worship an enormous quantity of systematic, organized idolatry, I frankly confess I do not know what idolatry is.

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

In the three months since the virus was first identified in Wuhan [WOO-HAHN], China, it has infected at least 4,805,430 people worldwide.

Second, today, under the Sign category of RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF ISRAEL — According to BBC, Israel has sworn in a unity government after the longest political crisis in the country’s history, and amid the coronavirus pandemic. Under a power-sharing deal agreed in April, right-wing prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu will serve for another 18 months. His centrist rival Benny Gantz will serve as deputy prime minister, before taking over. The two men have agreed to press ahead with a controversial plan to annex part of the occupied West Bank – a process that could get under way from July 1. Palestinian leaders reject the legitimacy of the move.

Third, today, under the Sign category of PESTILENCES & FATAL EPIDEMIC DISEASES — According to Bloomberg, Some 108 million people in China’s northeast region are being plunged back under lockdown conditions as a new and growing cluster of infections causes a backslide in the nation’s return to normal. In an abrupt reversal of the re-opening taking place across the nation, cities in Jilin [JEE-LIN] province have cut off trains and buses, shut schools and quarantined tens of thousands of people. The strict measures have dismayed many residents who had thought the worst of the nation’s epidemic was over.

Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy, the Second Coming of Christ, and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.

Our topic for today is titled “How Certain Is Christ’s Second Coming, Part 1” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

The failed predictions by certain modern prophets of Christ’s return on a certain date have caused many to mock or question whether the Lord will return at all. All too often people overreact to man’s failed predictions and reject prophecy altogether. Unfortunately, this often leads to them overlooking the clear statements in the Bible about Christ’s return. How certain is Christ’s second coming?

The Lord’s second coming is mentioned eight times more frequently in the Old Testament and New Testament than His first coming. In fact, Christ’s second coming is evidently the second-most important doctrine in the entire New Testament, for the only teaching mentioned more frequently is the subject of salvation! His coming is mentioned 318 times in the 260 chapters of the New Testament alone. All nine authors of the New Testament mentioned it.

Christ’s second coming is mentioned or alluded to in twenty-three of the twenty-seven New Testament books, and of the four books that make no clear mention of it, three (Philemon, 2 John, and 3 John) are one-chapter personal letters. Only one doctrinal book makes no specific mention of the subject (Galatians), although an implied reference to the events appears in 1:4.

Lord willing, we will continue looking at this topic in our next podcast.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.

This section is titled, “Idolatry to be Destroyed at Christ’s Coming” (Part 15). J.C. Ryle writes:

This is a mournful account, beloved brethren, but it is only too true. There can be little doubt the evil began even before the time just mentioned by the Homily writers. No man, I think, need wonder at the vice of idolatry in the primitive Church who considers calmly the excessive reverence which it paid, from the very first, to the visible parts of religion. I believe that no impartial man can read the language used by nearly all the Fathers about the Church, the bishops, the ministry, baptism, the Lord’s Supper, the martyrs, the dead saints generally–no man can read it, without being struck with the wide difference between their language and the language of Scripture on such subjects. You seem at once to be in a new atmosphere. You feel that you are no longer treading on holy groud. You find things which, in the Bible, are evidently of second-rate importance, are here made of first-rope importance. You find the things of sense and sight exalted to a position in which Paul, and Peter, and James, and John, speaking by the Holy Ghost, never for a moment placed them. It is not merely the weakness of uninspired writings that you have to complain it; it is something worse: it is a new system. And what is the explanation of all this? It is, in one word, that you have got into a region where the malaria of idolatry has begun to arise. You perceive the first workings of the mystery of iniquity. You detect the buds of that huge system of idolatry which, as the Homily describes, was afterwards formally acknowledged, and ultimately blossomed so luxuriantly in every part of Christendom.

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

In the three months since the virus was first identified in Wuhan [WOO-HAHN], China, it has infected at least 4,177,504 people worldwide.

Second, today, under the Sign category of THE RISE OF THE KINGS OF THE EAST — According to Reuters, U.S. President Donald Trump ordered meat processing plants to stay open to protect the nation’s food supply even as workers got sick and died. Yet, a Reuters analysis of government data showed the plants have increasingly been exporting to China while U.S. consumers face shortages. Meat buyers in China ramped up imports from around the world as a pig disease decimated its herd, the world’s largest, and pushed Chinese pork prices to record highs. Trump, who is in an acrimonious public dispute with Beijing over its handling of the coronavirus outbreak, invoked the 1950 Defense Production Act on April 28 to keep plants open. Now he is facing criticism from some lawmakers, consumers and plant employees for putting workers at risk in part to help ensure China’s meat supply.

Third, today, under the Sign category of EARTHQUAKES IN DIVERS PLACES — According to Ynet News, Two earthquakes shook northern Israel in the space of one hour, the Geophysical Institute of Israel reported on Monday morning. The epicenter of the tremblors was said to be in the Mediterranean Sea, west of southern Lebanon. The Geophysical Institute said the first earthquake, which occurred at 5:38 am, measured 3.2 in magnitude and its epicenter was some 8.6 miles north of Beit She’an [BEYT SHEY-AN] in the north. Beit She’an [BEYT SHEY-AN] has a unique geographical setting due to being located at the junction of the Jordan River Valley and the Jezreel Valley. The second tremblor took place around 6:53 am and measured 2.7 in magnitude.

7. A crisis in the Middle East will trigger this world leader’s intervention militarily and politically. He will eventually sign a peace treaty with Israel, only to break it later.

8. A false prophet of international fame will suddenly emerge to gain control of the world religious system and use it to reinforce the worship of Antichrist.

9. Resistance to the world system will be crushed by a massive worldwide persecution. Men, women, and children will be slaughtered in the name of the world state.

To that Homily I beg to refer you, reminding you once for all, that in the judgment of your own Thirty-nine Articles, the Book of Homilies “contains a godly and wholesome doctrine, and necessary for these times.” There you will read, how, even in the fourth century, Jerome complains, “that the errors of images have come in, and passed to the Christians from the Gentiles;” and Eusebias says, “We do see now that images of Peter and Paul, and of our Saviour himself be made, and tables be painted, which I think to have been derived and kept indifferently by an heathenish custom.”–There you will read, how “Pontius Paulinus, Bishop of Nola, in the fifth century, caused the walls of the temples to be painted with stories taken out of the Old Testament; that the people beholding and considering these pictures, might the better abstain from too much surfeiting and riot.–But from learning by painted stories, it came by little and little to idolatry.”–There you will read how Gregory the First, Bishop of Rome, in the beginning of the seventh century, did allow the free having of images in churches.–There you will read how Irene, mother of Constantine the Sixth, in the eighth century, assembled a council at Nicea, and procured a decree that “images should be put up in all the churches of Greece, and that honour and worship should be given to the said images.” And there you will read the conclusion with which the Homily winds up its historical summary,–“that laity and clergy, learned and unlearned, all ages, sorts, and degrees of men, women, and children of whole Christendom, have been at once drowned in abominable idolatry, of all other vices most detested of God, and most damnable to man, and that by the space of 800 years and more.”

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

CLOSING PRAYER

Where Are We Now?, Part 2 (The Prophet Daniel’s Report #680)

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #680.

First, today, under the Sign category of PESTILENCES & FATAL EPIDEMIC DISEASES — According to a Johns Hopkins University tally, the global death toll attributed to the novel coronavirus hit 252,301 early Tuesday. In the three months since the virus was first identified in Wuhan [WOO-HAHN], China, it has infected at least 3,607,469 people worldwide.

Second, today, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST — According to The Jerusalem Post, Alleged Israeli airstrikes targeted a research center and a military base in Syria on Monday night where Iranian militias are based, the fifth such strike in two weeks, according to Syrian media. Further airstrikes by unidentified aircraft on Iranian militias were reported near the Syria-Iraq border shortly after. A source from the Syrian military told the Syrian state news agency SANA that “hostile aircraft” coming from Al-Thawrah [AL-THAW-RAH], southeast of Aleppo, attacked military depots in the Al-Safira [AL-SAH-FEER-AH] area. Syrian air defenses were activated in response. Earlier, SANA reported that the scientific research center in Aleppo was targeted in the strikes.

Third, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMOURS OF WARS — According to The Guardian, North and South Korea exchanged gunfire over the demilitarised zone between the two nations. The exchange began when North Korean soldiers shot at a South Korean guard post at 7.41 am local time on Sunday. The South Korean military shot back twice. No casualties or equipment damage were reported on either side. South Korea’s military confirmed it found four bullets lodged in the outer wall of a guard post and that its forces fired 10 warning shots towards North Korea. Messages of warning were broadcast to North Korea which said that it had violated the inter-Korean military agreement of 2018 under which the two countries agreed to halt all hostile activities at the border.

Our topic for today is titled “Where Are We Now?, Part 2” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

3. Global economic interdependence will eventually lead to a global political system that trumps national sovereignty.

4. Materialism and preoccupation with self is replacing spiritual values. Mankind is mindlessly pursuing material prosperity as the basis for meaning and value in life.

5. The spiritual vacuum that results will leave the world ready for the ultimate deception: the great lie of the Antichrist, which will deceive the whole world.

6. This world leader will quickly arise on the international scene, promising to bring peace and economic stability. He will receive the support of the European community and eventually control the whole world.

This section is titled, “Idolatry to be Destroyed at Christ’s Coming” (Part 13). J.C. Ryle writes:

The last passage I will call your attention to is the conclusion of the ninth chapter of Revelation. We there read, at the twentieth verse: “The rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues, yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils” (mark, this is the same word as that in the Epistle to Timothy, just quotes, “and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk.” Now, I am not going to offer any comment on the chapter in which this verse occurs. I know well there is a difference of opinion as to the true interpretation of the plagues predicted in it. One thing I venture to assert, that it is the highest probability these plagues are to fall upon the visible Church of Christ; and the highest improbability, that St. John was here prophesying about the heathen, who never heard the Gospel. And this once conceded, the fact that idolatry is a predicted sin of the visible Church, does seem most conclusively and for ever established.

And now, if we turn from the Bible to facts, what do we see? I reply unhesitatingly, that there is unmistakeable proof that Scripture warnings and predictions were not spoken without cause, and that idolatry has actually arisen in the visible Church of Christ, and does still exist.

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

Where Are We Now?, Part 1 (The Prophet Daniel’s Report #679)

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #679.

First, today, under the Sign category of PESTILENCES & FATAL EPIDEMIC DISEASES — According to a Johns Hopkins University tally, the global death toll attributed to the novel coronavirus hit 211,326 early Tuesday. In the three months since the virus was first identified in Wuhan [WOO-HAHN], China, it has infected at least 3,050,308 people worldwide.

Second, today, under the Sign category of RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF ISRAEL — According to Breaking Israel News, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte [JU-SEP-PEY KON-TEY] penned a letter to the European Coalition for Israel to mark the anniversary of the San Remo [REH-MO] Conference, which ended 100 years ago. In his message, Conte [KON-TEY] touched on the major significance of the conference, which involved leading world powers accepting the principle of a home for the Jewish nation in the Land of Israel – including Judea and Samaria. Conte [KON-TEY] wrote that the conference effectively sealed the Balfour [BAL-FUH] Declaration of 1917 as part of international law saying. “One of the seeds of the olive tree which was to become the symbol of the modern State of Israel was planted in San Remo [REH-MO],” he states. Professor Eugene Kontorovich [KON-TOH-RO-VEESH] of the Kohelet [KOH-HEL-ETH] Forum explains, “At San Remo [REH-MO], the Jews were promised a national home in Palestine, and the explicit right to ‘settle’ throughout the territory which included of course Judea and Samaria.” Praising this historic event seems to contravene the EU’s longstanding policy of recognizing Jewish presence in Judea and Samaria as “illegal under international law.”

Third, today, under the Sign category of MOVEMENT TOWARD A ONE-WORLD ECONOMY — According to BBC, A plan for injecting billions of euros of emergency aid into Europe’s battered economies has been agreed by EU heads. Meeting via video, they agreed to set up a massive recovery fund, closely tied to the bloc’s seven-year budget. They also confirmed that €540 billion (euros) of financial support would be released through existing mechanisms from June 1. European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen [LEY-EN] said the fund would mobilise €1 trillion (euros) of investment. There has been bitter argument over how to fund the much-needed aid. Italy – which has had the deadliest outbreak in Europe to date – had urged its EU partners, especially the richer countries of northern Europe, to show more solidarity.

Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy, the Second Coming of Christ, and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.

Our topic for today is titled “The New World Order, Part 2” and “Where Are We Now?, Part 1” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

The real tragedy in all this talk of global unity is the absence of any emphasis on the spiritual roots of democracy and freedom. The gospel has been blunted in Western Europe for so long that there is little God-consciousness left in the European people. Without Christ, the Prince of Peace, there can be no hope for man-made orders of peace and prosperity. There will be no Millennium without the Messiah!

WHERE ARE WE NOW?
We can see now more clearly than ever that we have taken a quantum leap toward the fulfillment of the biblical prophecies of the last days. The stage is set for the climactic act in the long history of the human drama and for the fulfillment of the prophecies of the end times.

1. The fall of communism has paved the way for a world economy and a world government. The global web is tightening around us every day.

2. Secularism is giving way to New Age mysticism as the do-it-yourself religion of our times. The end result will be the watering down of religious beliefs so that they are more palatable to the general public.

This section is titled, “Idolatry to be Destroyed at Christ’s Coming” (Part 12). J.C. Ryle writes:

That idolatry would arise, seems to have been the expectation of the Apostles, even before the canon of the New Testament was closed. It is remarkable to observe how St. Paul dwells on this subject in his Epistle to the Corinthians. If any Corinthian called a brother was an idolater, with such an one the members of the Church were not to eat. “Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of our fathers.” He says again, “My dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.” When he writes to the Colossians, he warns them against “worshipping of angels.” And St. John closes his first Epistle with the solemn injunction, “little children, keep yourselves from idols.” It is impossible not to feel that all these passages imply an expectation that idolatry would arise, and that soon, among professing Christians.

The famous prophecy in the fourth chapter of the first epistle to Timothy contains a passage which is even more directly to the point: “The Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.” I will not detain you with any lengthy discussion of that remarkable expression, “doctrines of devils.” It may be sufficient to say, that our excellent translators are considered for once to have missed the full meaning of the Apostle, in their rendering of the word translated as “devils” in our version, and that the true meaning of the expression is, “doctrines about departed spirits.” And in this view, which, I may as well say, is maintained by all those who have the best right to be heard on such a question, the passage becomes a direct prediction of the rise of that most specious form of idolatry, the worship of dead saints.

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.
