Understanding Bible Prophecy, Part 2 (The Prophet Daniel’s Report #661)

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #661.

My name is Daniel Whyte III here to remind you that Jesus Christ is coming back soon and that you need to be prepared. This broadcast is not about predictions, nor is it about setting dates as some foolishly have done, however it is all about preparation.

First, today, let’s look at some Signs of His Coming in the news.

The disciples asked Jesus in Matthew 24:3, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Jesus Christ gave them (and us) clear signs that show us when we can begin to expect to see the Coming of the Lord and the end of the world. Looking at world events through the lens of the Word of God, let’s look at some headlines from today’s news that point to the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

First, today, under the Sign category of THE RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF ISRAEL — According to The Jerusalem Post, Jerusalem will remain united under mostly Israeli control with some responsibilities shared with a Palestinian state including the West Bank and Gaza, according to a purported draft copy of US President Donald Trump’s “Deal of the Century” peace plan for the Middle East. The unconfirmed reported draft details the timetable and methods of the plan. The draft discusses a trilateral peace agreement between the Palestinian Authority, Hamas and Israel in which a “new Palestinian state” would be established in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, excluding the settlement blocs which would remain as a part of Israel. Hamas and the Palestinian Authority are currently in talks to hold overarching elections for the West Bank, Gaza Strip and Jerusalem. Jerusalem will not be split up in the agreement, but instead will be “shared” between Israel and the Palestinian state, with the Arab population of the city becoming residents of the Palestinian state, according to the reported draft.

Second, today, under the Sign category of INCREASED PERSECUTION OF BELIEVERS — According to The Christian Post, Over 1,000 Christians have been killed this year in Nigeria as attacks led by Fulani extremists continue to plague rural farming communities in the Middle Belt, according to an estimation published by the U.K.-based nongovernmental organization Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust. HART, a nonprofit founded by U.K. member of Parliament Baroness Caroline Cox to “support people suffering from conflict and persecution,” released a report last month sharing details and testimonies from a recent fact-finding mission to Nigeria. The Nov. 18 report is titled “Your Land or Your Body: The escalating persecution and displacement of Christians in northern and central Nigeria.” The report reads: “Islamist Fulani militia continue to engage in an aggressive and strategic land grabbing policy in Plateau [PLAH-TOH], Benue [BEN-U-AY], Taraba [TA-RA-BA], Southern Kaduna [KAH-DU-NA] and parts of Bauchi [BOW-CHEE] state. They attack rural villages, force villagers off their lands and settle in their place — a strategy that is epitomized by the phrase: ‘your land or your blood.’” While the report states that the exact death toll for 2019 is unknown, “Preliminary data suggests that over 1,000 Christians have been killed since January.” HART estimates that there have been more than 6,000 Christians killed since 2015 and as many as 12,000 displaced from their villages.

Third, today, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST — According to The Jerusalem Post, Hezbollah had better not dare attack Israel or it will pay, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned at the opening of Sunday’s cabinet meeting. He said: “If Hezbollah dares to attack Israel, the organization and the country of Lebanon, which allows attacks against us from its territory, will pay a heavy price.” The prime minister referred to a recent statement by Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Maj.-Gen. Murteza Qurbani [MER-TAA-DAH KUR-BAH-NEE] that Iran will “destroy Tel Aviv from Lebanon.” Netanyahu said: “He exposed a simple truth. Hezbollah is simply the executive arm of Iran from Lebanon, against Israel.” The prime minister added that holding a third election in less than a year will not distract the government from handling national security matters.

Now, it’s time for Prophecy Bootcamp.

Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy, the Second Coming of Christ, and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.

Our topic for today is titled “Understanding Bible Prophecy, Part 2” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

Yet prophecy is not so difficult to understand that it should be avoided. In fact, neglecting it could be dangerous to Christians’ spiritual health. The apostle Paul obviously thought prophecy was important for young Christians to study, for he addressed it in every chapter in the little book of 1 Thessalonians, one of his earliest letters.

Concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.

Clearly Paul did not think that “the day of the Lord” (a reference to the second coming of Christ) was too complex for these young believers. Some details of prophecy are complex, but the essentials are not.

In fact, even if some minor misunderstanding happens when studying Bible prophecy, this is still far better than ignoring the topic completely. Ignorance is not a blessing or virtue. Paul wrote, “I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren”. Understanding God’s plan for the future will motivate you to godly living now. Our goal must be to stand before the Lord on that final judgment day and hear the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant…Enter into the joy of your lord”.

Lord willing, we will continue looking at this topic in our next podcast.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.

Jesus Christ said in Luke 19:13 to “Occupy till I come.” In light of that, we are continuing our journey through the book, “Coming Events and Present Duties,” by J.C. Ryle. It is a collection of what he called “prophetic tracts” that focus on the believer’s duty in light of the signs which point to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

This section is titled, “What Time Is It?” (Part 21). J.C. Ryle writes:

When he finishes the doctrinal part of the Epistle to the Romans, and begins his practical exhortations, what is his language? “I beseech you therefore by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God.”

When he has preached the resurrection of the body to the Corinthians, how does he wind up his argument? “Therefore my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable.”

When he has laid a mighty foundation of doctrine for the Ephesian Church, how does he proceed to address them on practical duties? “I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called.”

And here, as in other places, the word “therefore” comes in upon us in a very searching and forcible way. “The night is far spent, and the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness.”

I love to observe how closely the doctrine of Christ’s second coming and kingdom is bound up with personal holiness. I marvel that any can regard the second advent and reign of the Lord Jesus as merely speculative matters, or denounce them as unprofitable subjects. To my own mind they seem eminently practical, or else I have read my Bible to very little purpose.

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

……..
CLOSING PRAYER
…….

Remember the words of the Lord in Matthew 24:42: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” Matthew 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

If you are not ready for the Return of Jesus Christ, may I encourage you to get ready today by receiving Him as your Savior. Here is how:

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…” Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here is the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9-13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Keep looking up for your redemption draweth nigh. Let us join in the prayer of John the Revelator — “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” God bless you.

Why Does Bible Prophecy Matter?, Part 3 (The Prophet Daniel’s Report #659)

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #659.

First, today, under the Sign category of MOVEMENT TOWARD A ONE-WORLD RELIGION — According to Breaking Israel News, Pope Francis topped off his three-day visit to Thailand [TY-LAND] last Saturday with a meeting with Thailand’s [TY-LAND] supreme Buddhist patriarch Somdej Phra Maha Muneewong [SOM-DEH FRAH MA-HA MUY-NEE-WONG] at Bangkok’s Ratchabophit [RAH-CHA-BOH-FIT] Temple. The meeting took place in front of a 150-year-old gold statue of Buddha. The Pope followed Buddhist custom by removing his shoes. During the meeting, the Pope gave the Buddhist Patriarch the Declaration on Human Brotherhood. Rabbi Asore [AY-SOR] said: “You assume that the pope is Catholic but he is certainly not acting like a Catholic. These alliances, his actions, are certainly not what a Catholic would do.”

Second, today, under the Sign category of INCREASED HOSTILITY TOWARD ISRAEL — According to Israel National News, Addressing delegates at the Standing Committee and Board of Patrons meetings in Geneva, Switzerland, last week, Chief Rabbi Pinchas [PIN-HAAS] Goldschmidt, president of the Conference of European Rabbis, warned his European counterparts that ‘everywhere in Europe, our religious practice is severely under threat’. Chief Rabbi Goldschmidt said that ‘the continued efforts made by several European nations to restrict our ability to observe important religious customs and traditions are increasingly worrying and problematic.’ As part of a wide-ranging discussion on the topic, the Standing Committee of the Conference of European Rabbis has appointed Rabbi Bruno Fiszon [FEE-SZON] as its Representative for Religious Practice Matters. He will be responsible for ensuring that the Jewish community’s voice is rightly heard and that it is actively informing the discussion at every level so that steps can be taken to protect communities as much as possible by working with officials. Reflecting on the meetings in Geneva, Chief Rabbi Goldschmidt said: ‘Our discussions have focused on the importance of protecting Jewish life in Europe – something that is of the utmost importance within today’s political and social climate. The future of the Jews in Europe is once again thrown into question. Many are experiencing huge anxiety about whether they are able to continue living on this continent.’

Third, today, under the Sign category of RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF ISRAEL — According to The Jerusalem Post, Blue and White leader Benny Gantz is prepared to join Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in making compromises ahead of the December 11 deadline to form a government and prevent a third election in under a year. Netanyahu already compromised by dropping his insistence on serving as prime minister the first two years in a unity government to one year, and then relaying to Gantz that he would settle for “less than six months without tricks and shticks. Sources close to Gantz said he was willing to accept the offer and stand up to Blue and White’s second and third candidates, MKs Yair Lapid [YAY-IR LAH-PEED] and Moshe Ya’alon [MOH-SHEY YAA-LON], who warned him that it is a trap. The sources said Gantz will tell them that they can sit out of the government while Netanyahu is prime minister and then join for his two years at the helm. A source close to Gantz said: “This can work without breaking up Blue and White.”

Our topic for today is titled “Why Does Bible Prophecy Matter?, Part 3” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

Prophecy is worthy of our attention, study, and devotion. Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 2:15, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” This applies to our study of all Scripture, but it is certainly relevant to our understanding of the Bible’s many prophecies. Our goal must be to know what God has spoken so that we may live with hope, holiness, and a desire to help those who have yet to experience a relationship with the risen Christ.

Jesus personally expected His followers to carefully study Scripture in preparation for His return. In Matthew 24:42, He commanded His disciples, “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.”

In contrast, Jesus condemned the religious leaders of His day because they did not recognize the signs of the times.

The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven. He replied, “When evening comes, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,’ and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times”.

Jesus expected the people during His first coming to recognize Him and to eagerly anticipate His second coming. We are likewise called to both reflect on Christ’s fulfillment of biblical prophecy and to look ahead at His future prophecies.

Biblical prophecies and their literal fulfillment fascinate our curiosity and challenge our minds, but they are ultimately intended to bring us to a personal point of decision and faith. If the Bible predicted these things would happen and they actually did happen, them we must take Jesus’ claims about Himself seriously. If He alone fulfilled these prophecies, then He alone is the Savior, the Son of God, the King of kings, and Lord of lords. And if He is, then He deserves our faith, our lives, and our complete devotion.

Lord willing, we will continue looking at this topic in our next podcast.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.

This section is titled, “What Time Is It?” (Part 19). J.C. Ryle writes:

Yet a little while, and believers shall no more feel that they are alone. They shall no longer be scattered over the earth, a few in one place, and a few in another. They shall no longer lament that they see so few to speak to, as a man speaketh with his friend,–so few who are of one mind, and travel with them in the one narrow way. They shall be united to the general assembly and Church of the first-born. They shall join the blessed company of all the believers of every name, and people, and tongue. Their eyes shall at length be satisfied with seeing. They shall see a multitude of saints that none can number, and not one wicked person among them.

Yet a little while, and working believers shall find that their labour was not in vain. The ministers who have preached and seemed to reap no fruit,–the missionaries who testified of the Gospel, and none seemed to believe,–the teachers who poured into children’s minds line upon line, and none seemed to attend,–all, all shall discover that they have not spent their strength for nought. They shall find that the seed sown can spring up after many days, and that sooner or later in all labour there is profit.

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

Why Does Bible Prophecy Matter?, Part 2 (The Prophet Daniel’s Report #658)

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #658.

First, today, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST — According to Israel National News, The Al-Quds [AL-KUDS] Brigades, the military wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, announced the introduction of the new Buraq [BU-RAK] 120 rocket to its arsenal. The group said in a statement: “We announce the introduction of a new Buraq [BU-RAK] 120 for the first time for military service, a purely Palestinian jihadist industry. The hands of its fighters in all military units are still on the trigger and operate according to an integrated military system and are at the disposal of the movement’s leadership.” The group added that the death of their leader, Bahaa Abu al-Ata [BA-HA AH-BU AL- AH-TA], following a successful attack by the IDF would only increase their strength and solidarity. The statement also thanked their ally, the Islamic Republic of Iran, for supporting Palestinian resistance in various forms.

Second, today, under the Sign category of THE RISE OF GOG AND MAGOG — According to SpaceDaily.com, Turkey will use the S-400 missile defence system it has bought from Russia despite the US threat of sanctions. The purchase of the Russian system and its subsequent delivery of the system has been a major source of friction between two NATO allies Turkey and the United States. Last month the US said Turkey would be spared sanctions under a 2017 law if the S-400 system is not turned on. Ismail Demir [IS-MAY-IL DEH-MERE], the head of the Defence Industry Directorate, said: “It is not a correct approach to say ‘we will not use for someone else’s sake’ a system we had purchased out of our need and we paid that amount of money. We will do our duty and (the system) will become usable. How it will be used is a decision to be made later. We should respect the agreement we signed and that’s what suits us as a country.”

Third, today, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST — According to Israel National News, Saudi Arabia’s cabinet accused Iran of being “deceptive and evasive” about its nuclear program. A cabinet statement carried on the state Saudi Press Agency and quoted by Reuters also called on Iran to cooperate fully with the International Atomic Energy Agency and its inspectors. The statement comes a day after the IAEA released a report confirming that Iran is restarting uranium enrichment at the underground Fordow [FOR-DOE] facility, in violation of the 2015 nuclear deal it signed with world powers. Iran has gradually scaled back its compliance with the 2015 deal in response to US President Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the agreement last May. Iran and Saudi Arabia are regional rivals which back opposing sides in the wars in Yemen and Syria, where the Iranian regime supports President Bashar Al-Assad while the Saudis back the rebels trying to oust him.

Our topic for today is titled “Why Does Bible Prophecy Matter?, Part 2” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

Studying unfulfilled prophecy promotes holy living. “Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. A proper understanding of what the future holds directs our lives toward holiness now. Our goal is to live now in such a way that we have no regrets in the future when we stand before our Lord.

Studying unfulfilled prophecy compels us to share the gospel. When we understand that Christ’s rapture could take place at any moment, “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye” according to the apostle Paul, we cannot help but long to share the reason for the hope within us.

Studying unfulfilled prophecy brings blessing. In Revelation 1:3, John proclaims, “Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.” In contrast, Revelation also teaches a curse upon those who add to the words of its prophecies or take away from them.

Lord willing, we will continue looking at this topic in our next podcast.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.

This section is titled, “What Time Is It?” (Part 18). J.C. Ryle writes:

Yet a little while, and believers shall part for ever with disease. The sick and wearied ones, who have mourned over their seeming uselessness to the Church,–the weak and infirm, who have had the will to labour, but not the power,–the feeble and bed-ridden, who have waited long-drawn years in quiet chambers, till their eyes know every crack and speck on their walls,–all, all shall be set free. They shall each have a glorious body like their Lord’s.

Yet a little while, and mourning believers shall part for ever with their tears. Every wound in their hearts shall be completely healed. Every empty place and gap in their affections shall be entirely filled up. They shall find that those who have died in the Lord were not lost, but gone before. They shall see that infinite wisdom arranged every bereavement, by which one was taken and another left. They shall magnify the Lord together with those who were once their companions in tribulation, and acknowledge that He did all things well, and led them by a right way.

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

What About Future Prophecies? (The Prophet Daniel’s Report #656 with Daniel Whyte III)

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #656.

First, today, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST — According to The Times of Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he holds Hamas responsible for any attacks emanating from the Gaza Strip but will not divulge his plans for dealing with the situation, after 10 rockets were launched from the coastal enclave over the weekend, one of which hit a home in the southern town of Sderot [DEY-ROT]. The prime minister said at the opening of the weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem: “We must understand that we hold Hamas accountable for any attack that comes out of the Gaza Strip. I’m not going to detail our plans here. We will continue to work in all arenas for the security of the State of Israel, both by visible and covert means, by sea, air and land.” The prime minister also addressed other threats, saying: “We are in a very sensitive and explosive security period in a number of arenas in the east, north and south.” Netanyahu did not offer any further explanation of his statement.

Second, today, under the Sign category of THE RISE OF GOG & MAGOG — According to The Jerusalem Post, An advanced Israeli surface-to-air missile that was fired from the David’s Sling (formerly known as the Magic Wand) missile system was given to Russia by Syria, when it was found intact after the rocket did not explode on contact. The rocket was reportedly fired on July 23, 2018, and Syrian forces that were dispatched to the scene found the missile intact after it sustained minor damage from impact. The missile was then taken to a Syrian-Russian base where it was transferred to Moscow for further research. Russian media reports quoted Chinese news agency Sina [SEE-NAH] saying that the missile was taken by Russia for “reverse engineering.”

Third, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMOURS OF WARS — According to Israel National News, North Korea’s state news agency KCNA reported the country successfully conducted another test of “super-large multiple rocket launchers”. According to the report, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un “expressed satisfaction” and congratulated the scientists who had developed the weapon. KCNA said the test verified that the “continuous fire system” of the multiple rocket launchers is able to “totally destroy” a group target of the enemy by a surprise strike. North Korea has conducted several tests of ballistic missiles since a June meeting between Kim and US President Donald Trump, including at the beginning of October, when it tested a new type of submarine-launched ballistic missile. North Korea recently broke off working-level nuclear talks with Washington, with North Korea’s chief nuclear negotiator blaming the move on what he portrayed as US inflexibility.

Prophecy Bootcamp is where we deal with the basics of prophecy, the Second Coming of Christ, and what will happen in the future according to the Bible. Our aim here is not to make predictions but to help you get prepared by understanding how things will unfold in the end times.

Our topic for today is titled “What About Future Prophecies” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

The accurate fulfillment of the prophecies of Christ’s first coming point us to the certainty that the 300 prophecies of His second coming will also be fulfilled. Because the prophecies relating to Christ’s first coming have been fulfilled literally, we can confidently expect that the prophecies relating to His second coming will be fulfilled equally as literally.

We have every reason to believe in the trustworthiness of the Bible’s prophecies about the future, but we can accept them only by faith until the time of their fulfillment. And our faith in these prophecies is not based on a misplaced pious hope. Rather, it is based on the literal fulfillment of prophecies from the past. This alone gives us great confidence that the prophecies not yet fulfilled will indeed come to pass.

The fact that Bible prophecies have always been fulfilled in an exact and detailed manner assures us that, in regard to prophecies not yet fulfilled, Christ will come again just as He said. We can look forward to the unfolding of the future because we know it is under God’s sovereign control.

John’s Gospel ends by reminding us that the “world itself could not contain” the books that could be written about Jesus Christ. But John himself, Jesus’ personal disciple, states, “These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.”

Lord willing, we will begin looking at “Why Does Bible Prophecy Matter?” in our next podcast.

This section is titled, “What Time Is It?” (Part 16). J.C. Ryle writes:

6. What shall we say to the increased attention to unfulfilled prophecy, which has appeared in these latter days? Seventy years ago there were few who paid any attention to the subject. The passages in Scripture which speak of things to come were comparatively neglected, or perverted with curious igenuity from their simple meaning. Now, on the contrary, the current of public feeling runs strongly in favour of prophetical study. Books on the subject are eagerly bought up. Lectures on the subject are listened to with increased attention. In spite of the divisions which preterism and futurism have created,–in spite of the discredit which Millerites in America, and Irvingites in England, have brought upon the whole subject, the study of unfulfilled prophecy still holds its ground. But what saith the Scritpure? “The words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.” The words seem unfolding. The seal seems breaking. Can the end be far off?

Reader, I place these points before you, and ask our serious attention to them. I know we are all poor judges of our own times. We are apt to exaggerate the importance of events that take place under our own eyes. I dare say if we had lived in Cromwell’s days, or under the first French revolution, we should have thought the end of all things was close at hand. But still, after every allowance, I think the points I have mentioned deserve solemn consideration. I regard them as signs of our times.

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

CLOSING PRAYER

Prophecies Fulfilled in the Life of Christ, Part 5 (The Prophet Daniel’s Report #655)

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #655.

First, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMOURS OF WARS — According to The Times of Israel, Israeli Air Force chief Amikam Norkin [AM-EE-KAM NOR-KIN] said the military’s multi-tiered network of air defense systems were “on alert” amid a general threat of attack by Iran. In recent weeks, the military has begun to believe that Tehran intends to eventually retaliate against Israel’s regular airstrikes against its forces and proxies in the region. The Israel Defense Forces believes this could take the form of a large-scale attack involving cruise missiles and attack drones, similar to the strike on Saudi Arabia’s Aramco petroleum facility that was attributed to Iran. Earlier this week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Iran intends to attack Israel from Yemen, which may make intercepting such a strike more difficult as the IDF’s intermediate and long-range air defenses are better positioned to shoot down incoming attacks from Israel’s north, rather than from the south.

Second, today, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST — According to Israel National News, Brigadier General Kioomars Heidari [KY-OO-MERS HI-DAHR-EE], the commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Force, announced the production of a new model of Farpad-type drones. The drones were transferred to the Iranian military’s operational units after operational tests were successful. Heidari [HI-DAHR-EE] claimed the new drone is intended for ongoing security, surveillance, searches, border control and other similar missions, and is intended to be used by the offensive infantry, rapid intervention units and intelligence units. He further said that the drone is controlled from a ground station, it was equipped with electronic attack protection systems and has the ability to photograph targets. Iran often boasts of its military accomplishments, though it is not always possible to say with certainty that it is telling the truth about those accomplishments.

Third, today, under the Sign category of RISE OF GOG & MAGOG — According to Reuters, Russia’s most advanced new nuclear-powered submarine test-launched a Bulava [BOO-LA-VA] intercontinental ballistic missile for the first time and hit a target thousands of kilometres away, the Defence Ministry said. The test was carried out while the Borei [BOR-RAY] -class vessel was submerged and comes amid arms control tensions between Moscow and the West following the demise of a landmark Cold War-era nuclear pact that has sparked fears of a burgeoning arms race. The launch was conducted in the White Sea off Russia’s north with a dummy payload reaching a test site in the Far East Russian region of Kamchatka [KAM-CHAAT-KUH], the ministry said. The Knyaz [NY-YAZ] Vladimir submarine is the first upgraded 955A model to be produced in the Borei [BOR-RAY] class of Russian nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines. It will enter service with Russia’s Northern Fleet at the end of this year once it has completed trials including weapons tests, the fleet’s commander, Vice Admiral Alexander Moiseev [MOY-EH-SEEV] said.

Our topic for today is titled “Prophecies Fulfilled in the Life of Christ” (Part 5)” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

These are just three of the approximately 120 distinct Old Testament prophecies of the first coming of Christ. They are like pieces of a puzzle. Each presents a distinct element of the Savior’s life and ministry, but the whole picture portrayed by these pieces can be seen only after their fulfillment. Not until Jesus came did these prophecies come into clear relation with one another. The chances of all these prophecies being fulfilled in the life of one man is one chance in 84 followed by 131 zeroes.

These 120 prophecies of Christ’s first coming are overwhelming evidence of the divine origin of Scripture, the messiahship of Jesus, and the truth of Christianity. When viewed as a whole, the collective impact of these prophecies and their fulfillment in the Gospels cannot be easily dismissed by unbelievers. Again, the mathematical possibility of all these predictions being fulfilled in one person is absolutely astounding.

Louis Lapides [LAH-PEH-DEES] grew up in a Jewish family in New Jersey. During a time of reflection on his own spiritual journey, he realized that the description of the Messiah in Isaiah 53 perfectly fit the portrait of Jesus of Nazareth. Now a pastor, his studies and life experiences have led him from skepticism regarding messianic prophecies concerning Jesus to personally embracing Him as Messiah in his own life.

In an interview, Lapides [LAH-PEH-DEES]was asked, “If the prophecies were so obvious to you and pointed so unquestionably toward Jesus, why don’t more Jews accept Him as their Messiah?”

He answered, “In my case, I took the time to read them.” In many cases, we undervalue the impact of the fulfilled prophecies regarding Jesus Christ because of our lack of study regarding how specifically the Bible has spoken. In out study together, we’ll discover that Scripture has frequently spoken very specifically regarding many events, both those fulfilled in the past as well as those that are yet to be fulfilled.

Lord willing, we will begin looking at “What About Future Prophecies?” in our next podcast.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.

This section is titled, “What Time Is It?” (Part 15). J.C. Ryle writes:

5. What shall we say to the drying up of the Mahometan [MAY-HOM-EH-TAN] power? Two hundred and fifty years ago, men doubted whether the Turks might not overrun all Europe! No army seemed able to resist them. Province after province fell into their hands. When Martin Luther in his sermons wanted an illustration of boundless worldly power, he would choose for his example “the Turkish empire!” But now all is changed. Without much outward violence the Mahometan [MAY-HOM-EH-TAN] strength has gradually dwindled away. There has been a collapse, a consumption, a worm at the heart of all their might. In spite of all the help of the Christian allies, the Turkish empire is like a man sick of a sore disease. He may rally for a time by the help of strong remedies, and by the admission of new elements into his constitution, but he will never again be an exclusive, persecuting, purely Mahometan [MAY-HOM-EH-TAN] power. The days of pure, intolerant Mahometanism [MAY-HOM-EH-TAN-ISM] seem past and gone for ever. And what saith the Scripture? I quote symbolical prophecy with reverence, and readily allow I may be wrong in its application; but the passage I refer to is very remarkable:–“The sixth angel poured out his vial on the river Euphrates; and the waters thereof were dried up, that the way of the kings of the East might be prepared. And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. Behold I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.”

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

Prophecies Fulfilled in the Life of Christ, Part 4 (The Prophet Daniel’s Report #654)

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #654.

First, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMOURS OF WARS — According to Ynet News, Israel is preemptively bolstering its defenses over fears that Iran may retaliate against an ongoing series of attacks on its proxies in Syria and Iraq that have been attributed to Israel, Army Radio reported. Citing unnamed sources, the report claimed Israel was focusing its defense capabilities on harder to detect, low-flying cruise missiles and drone strikes – unlike high-arcing ballistic missiles that are easier to intercept. As tensions escalate in the region, the IDF has been on high alert and the security cabinet will convene for an impromptu meeting next week, according to sources. Last month, citing several Iranian, Western and Iraqi sources, Reuters reported that Tehran had dispatched missiles to its allies as a “back-up plan” in case Iran was attacked by the United States or Israel. The missiles, of which were said to be in the dozens, were intended to send a warning to the U.S. and Israel, especially following several airstrikes on Iranian troops in Syria that analysts have attributed to the Israel.

Second, today, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST — According to BBC News, Turkey and Russia have agreed on what they say is a “historic” deal aimed at keeping Kurdish forces away from Syria’s border with Turkey. It comes during a pause in Turkey’s offensive to drive Kurdish forces out, creating a “safe zone” in the area. Under the deal, Syrian and Russian forces will immediately oversee a withdrawal of Kurdish forces. There is no word from the Kurdish fighters, whom Turkey regards as terrorists. The deal sets out plans for joint Turkish-Russian patrols along the border. The agreement was announced after six hours of talks between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian host, Vladimir Putin, in the Black Sea resort of Sochi [SAW-CHEE]. A ceasefire brokered by the US was set to expire and Turkey had threatened to re-launch its offensive against the Kurdish fighters. It said there was now “no need”.

Third, today, under the Sign category of MOVEMENT TOWARD A ONE-WORLD ECONOMY — According to The Wall Street Journal, Social media giant Facebook plans to reveal its new Libra digital cryptocurrency next week with backing from over a dozen other companies. Visa and Mastercard are reportedly quite invested in the currency while other Silicon Valley firms such as PayPal, Uber, Stripe, and Booking.com are fully supporting the currency. Each of these firms will invest around$10 million to fund further development of the currency and become part of the Libra Association. The association will act as an independent group which will govern the coin independently from Facebook. The involvement of Visa and Mastercard is interesting as cryptocurrency can act as a viable alternative to the services offered by these firms and could be direct competition, some have suggested that the firm’s involvement is an attempt to keep track of Facebook’s currency, while others have implied alternative motivations. Users will be able to send Libra via Facebook products such as WhatsApp and Messenger, reports also claim that a number of partnerships with online retailers will allow users to spend the coin in many locations online. Facebook is reportedly also considering developing ATM-like physical machines in which people can convert their regular money into Libra. The cryptocurrency is reported to be called Libra and will be revealed on June 18, with plans to release the coin fully in 2020. Previously Libra was announced as “GlobalCoin.”

Our topic for today is titled “Prophecies Fulfilled in the Life of Christ” (Part 4)” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

What is the significance of Jesus entering the city on a young donkey? The Jewish prophet Zechariah wrote,

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.”

Utilizing donkeys for travel was common during this time, but specifically referring to “a colt, the foal of a donkey” demonstrates a level of accuracy that appears to have no other explanation than predictive prophecy. Amazingly, Zechariah penned these words around 550 years before the event!

In yet another prophecy, Matthew shared the financial motivation behind Judas Iscariot’s betrayal of Jesus: “Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver”.

Interestingly, Matthew, the former tax collector, noted that an Old Testament prophet had previously predicted this specific amount of money. God commanded Zechariah to “shepherd the flock marked for slaughter”. After a dispute about his work, he ended his shepherding. In his exit interview with his employer, he remarked, “‘If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it.’ So they paid me thirty pieces of silver”. This visual form of teaching served as a specific prophecy regarding the exact price the chief priests paid Judas Iscariot to betray Jesus.

Lord willing, we will continue looking at “Prophecies Fulfilled in the Life of Christ” in our next podcast.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.

4. What shall we say to the wars and shakings of nations which we have seen in these last seventy years? The mightiest empires on earth have been shaken to their very foundations. Kings, and princes, and great men, have been driven from their high position by scores, and been made wanderers on the face of the earth. There has been no accounting for it by any human reasoning. These movements have taken place in the face of increased knowledge, civilization, and desire of peace. The shock came from beneath. And what saith the Scripture? “Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.”

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

Prophecies Fulfilled in the Life of Christ, Part 3 (The Prophet Daniel’s Report #653)

Welcome to The Prophet Daniel’s Report. This is report #653.

First, today, under the Sign category of WARS & RUMOURS OF WARS — According to Israel National News, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told US President Donald Trump that Turkey will never declare a ceasefire in northeastern Syria and that it will not negotiate with Kurdish forces it is fighting in its offensive into the region. Speaking to reporters on a flight back from Baku, Erdogan said the offensive would continue until it reaches its goals, and added that he was not worried about sanctions. ‘They say ‘declare a ceasefire’. We will never declare a ceasefire,’ Erdogan declared. ‘They are pressuring us to stop the operation. They are announcing sanctions. Our goal is clear. We are not worried about any sanctions.’ Turkish soldiers last Wednesday launched a cross-border assault against Kurdish fighters Turkey sees as terrorists. The Turkish attack is aimed at the US-allied YPG, the key component of the forces who fought Islamic State (ISIS). The group is seen by Ankara as a terrorist group linked to Kurdish separatist insurgents in Turkey.

Second, today, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST — According to The Times of Israel, The Lebanese army accused Israel of sending a reconnaissance drone over Beirut’s southern suburbs, a bastion of the Shiite terror group Hezbollah. On August 25, two explosives-laden drones were sent to the same area. One of them exploded, sparking a dangerous escalation between Hezbollah and Israel. “One of the Israeli enemy’s reconnaissance drones violated Lebanese air space… overflew the southern suburbs and left,” the army said in a statement. According to Israeli and international media reports, the target of the August attack was technology used in producing long-range precision missiles, and its destruction had set back the program by at least a year. The reported Beirut drone attack came after Israel carried out airstrikes in neighboring Syria to thwart what it said was a plot to fly explosives-laden drones into the country. Two Hezbollah members were among those killed in the strike.

Third, today, under the Sign category of TURMOIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST — According to Space Daily, Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Wednesday that Iran could have taken the step to develop nuclear weapons but will not because their use is “haram”, or forbidden in Islam. “Although we could have taken steps on this path, based on Islamic ruling we firmly and bravely said we won’t take this path,” Khamenei said. “Both building and stockpiling it is wrong, as using it is haram. If we had a nuclear weapon, it would have been obvious that it would have been impossible for us to use anywhere,” said the Iranian leader. Iran vehemently denies having ever sought an atomic bomb and says its nuclear programme is for peaceful energy production and medical purposes only.

Our topic for today is titled “Prophecies Fulfilled in the Life of Christ” (Part 3)” from Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson’s book “The Essential Guide to Bible Prophecy.”

Another clear example is found in Matthew’s account of the wise men.

“Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.” (Matthew 2:2-6, quoting Micah 5:2-4)

These Jewish scholars were well aware of Micah’s prophecy long before Jesus was revealed. Yet Micah had spoken these words 700 years earlier with explicit precision regarding the exact location of the Messiah’s birth.

Luke’s Gospel recalls a fulfilled Old Testament prophecy related to Christ’s entry into Jerusalem on the day we call Palm Sunday.

“And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them. And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt? And they said, The Lord hath need of him. And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon. And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.” (Luke 19:32-36)

Lord willing, we will continue looking at “Prophecies Fulfilled in the Life of Christ” in our next podcast.

In closing, let’s consider what God wants you and I to do in light of His Second Coming.

This section is titled, “What Time Is It?” (Part 13). J.C. Ryle writes:

3. What shall we say to the wonderful spread of knowledge and communication between nations in these days? Seventy years ago to find a poor man who could read, was rather an uncommon thing. In a few years a man who cannot read will be a rare sight. Seventy years ago there were few who ever travelled beyond the bounds of their own county. Now every one can move in every direction, and our population is like a swarm of bees disturbed. Steam navigation and railways have altered the character of society. Time and space are made nothing of. Seas, mountains, and rivers are no longer obstacles. God separated the nations in the day of Babel. Man is working hard to make them all one again. And what saith the Scripture? “Shut up the words and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”

If the Lord tarries His Coming and we live, we will continue looking at this topic in our next broadcast/podcast.

CLOSING PRAYER
